Bummed was the title of my first review and by magic it disappeared from yelp....hint hint people! My first review that vanished was a 3 star but now that my review vanished I will make it a mission to tell people how shitty their food was. I have always gone to Yelp to help guide us but after I posted review on yelp of Zaza and it disappeared...WTF...if you ask a LBS res they say the food sucks but the service is good and it is a good place to drink cuz their property entrance is at their entrance door. _ OB out!

This was a very disappointing experience. The hostess was very pleasant; however, our waiter did not give us a list of the specials and did not know what the soup of the day was so we had to wait while he checked. The bruschetta had very little topping, the Arancine was very bland. The minestrone soup was okay but more like a vegetable soup with weak broth and not a typical minestrone. The spinach pasta soup was good. They no longer carried the type of pasta ordered for one meal, even though the waiter gave as one of the choices, so they just substituted the pasta without even asking. The Bolognese sauce in one dish was acceptable; however, the Bolognese sauce in the other dish was very "liquidy" as the rigatoni pasta was not drained well and when picking up the rigatoni water actually dropped out. Needless to say, we will definitely not be returning to this restaurant and will not recommend.

Omg have eaten there several times but today was horrible! Service/ kitchen took 2 hours for our food! The place wasn't even that busy when we showed up at 5:15. Food was good but not wait for 2 hours good.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Spectacular service. (Thanks Danny and Katie. ) Can't wait to go back. A diamond in the rough, was a little nervous when we saw it was in a strip mall and then we we were pleasantly surprised. It exceeded our expectations.

Very mediocre at best. Nice service nice ambiance but tasteless to not very good tasting food. Very disappointed. Veal rotolo terrible. A piece of shoe leather uncooked deep fried potatoes and bitter kale. Scallops appetizer again deep fried leaks on top were disgusting. Arancine average. linguini with clam sauce tasteless in a bowl of soup not worth sopping up with bread. The only thing that was decent was the chicken parm.

(Quick tip: "CHECK IN" to receive $10 off of $75.) My wife and I decided to come to ZaZa's for a random Thursday night dinner date and it just happened that on Thursday nights they have live entertainment. This was our first time here and we were seated quickly without any reservation close to the singer, "Giana" was her name. (Very good singer, added a welcomed romantic element to the evening.) After being seated they brought out some warm bread and a small bowl of olives - which were very good... I wanted more. We started on the grilled calamari antipasto and a martini for my wife and a jack and coke for me. I'll tell you this, they are very generous with their alcohol. The drinks were strong. The grilled calamari was okay I suppose for what it was - the temperature could have been warmer and I was left wishing there was some sort of sauce I could dip them in. My wife ordered the lobster ravioli and I had a very hard time deciding and ended up getting 2 appetizers, the Scallops Toscano and the Polpette di Vitello (baked veal meatball topped with Provolone, served with marinara & pesto crostini) The lobster ravioli was very good. Nice thin dough allowed the lobster to prevail in this dish. My wife thought there was a little too much spinach and ended up eating around it. Good portion size and their tomato vodka cream sauce was spectacular. My scallops were cooked perfectly. I have to say however, I feel like they used too much butter or something to sauté them... the butter taste was a little overpowering. The caramelized fennel complimented this dish surprisingly well and the flash fried fennel was VERY good. A little too much of it though - I found myself in a small game of "find the scallops!" The baked veal meatballs were good, probably wouldn't order them again because they weren't as large as I expected and they were a little bland. The marinara sauce was good and the pesto crostini was nice to have to dip into the marinara. The woman responsible for filling water glasses - WOW. She was amazing. She filled those glasses like her life depended on it. Our waitress was good - not super friendly, sometimes seemed a little impatient. Here's a tip - when you "check in" there, I was surprised with a nice $10 of $75 coupon on yelp. Our bill was $69 - so then we ordered tiramisu and cannoli and with the coupon to push it past $75, but then only paid $71 in the end which was about $2 for 2 desserts. Cannoli was REALLY good and the tiramisu was good - but there was a little too much rum in it for my tastes. Maybe some coffee flavored liquor or less rum would have made this from good to great. All in all, this is a great little restaurant with an intimate atmosphere, good authentic italian food with fresh ingredients, strong drinks, and fun Thursday night live entertainment. I very much enjoyed my date with my wife here and it was nice to relax without the kids in a comfortable and romantically intimate "trattoria."

We come here every so often. The atmosphere is really nice and the food is pretty consistently good. We especially love the pizza, which is on the appetizer menu. The service is totally hit or miss. It's either really good or really poor.

My sister had recommended this place a few times and I finally went last week. Atmosphere is romantic - Frank Sinatra music, low lights, tables are close together and cozy. Had the Linguine Frutti di Mare with the tomatoe sauce and it was AMAZING! Big portions and tastes good reheated the next day too!

Walking into a busy restaurant with reservations only to be told in a snap that they have no such reservations was the start of our absent minded visit. They brought us the wrong table salad as a starter but we could not wait to lasso our server who skimmed past us several times but never stopped to ask how things were-nor adjusted the bill to accommodate. The home made pasta was good but not exceptional--especially at 20.00+ a plate for vegan selections. Crunchy bread and olives always a nice treat on the table before the menu items arrive. Will be back with caution.

WOW! On a rainy night we were greeted with a warm friendly face. The restaurant was nice. Seated right away and the waitress quickly arrived. The food was amazing. From beginning to end. The portions were large and the food was hot. Truly the reputation of the place speaks for itself. Everyone was happy with their food and plenty to take home. Great for families or a night out. The owners were friendly and visited our table, they truly care about their business and their effort shows. I would recommend to anyone. This is a hidden gem. I am so glad I found.

My first time experience to Zaza was above average. The environment & food overall were good but the waitress was not very friendly and seemed a little impatient. We had mussels & clams for appetizer & they were good especially the white sauce. Corn chowder soup was tasty but a little watery. Main course was mixed grill, a little bit of everything including filet mignon, scallop, shrimp, Italian sausage & risotto. It was delicious but if they can work on the plate presentation, that will be even better! We will definitely go back and try some other dishes!

We've never had a bad meal here; in fact, we've never had a so-so meal here. Every time we've dined here, the sumptuous food, the quality service, and the tasteful ambiance serve to make for a special evening. I've been here for dinner with my wife. I've been here for a group dinner with my family. We even used Zazas to cater my son's rehearsal dinner. The food is wonderful; the service is outstanding. Zaza's is our favorite restaurant.

We went to Zaza's on Friday 2/20 for dinner. First, I loved the food! I had the Eggplant Parmesan and it was very good! I am very picky about Eggplant too because my Mom makes it best, so if I can find it well made at a restaurant I am very happy. I probably would have given 5 stars, but our waitress had a bit of an attitude. She seemed really annoyed with us because it took us some time to order. It was four of us, my husband and I, and two of our friends. All of us being first timers so we needed to look at the menu. It was my friend's birthday and I asked her if she got a dessert, and she snapped and said, "That's what I just said." Ok, sorry, I didn't hear you. I was also disappointed that soup or salad wasn't included. Its extra. Sorry, I know you are in Barrington and most of your customers are rich, but that should be included with your meal. I am hoping that our waitress was just having a bad night or we never get her again. Since the food was so good, I will definitely be back. But, probably for special occasions because of the cost.

I really liked it. I can't believe how good this place is. Too bad I don't get out to south barrington is. I wore my repair company and I had a little break in between I went to eat there. I love the white fish.

In south Barrington there aren't many choices but their lasagna is worth the trip. It matches some of the best in the city.

Ate dinner there this past weekend with some friends. We had a great night. I loved the atmosphere and the attentive service was great. I ate the whitefish entree which was divine, but I wish they had a better dessert selection. Overall, a top restaurant!

I had wanted to try this place for a long time and finally tried it because of Groupon. The food was outstanding-more fine dining than casual, and the prices reflect this, but it's worth it. It's a wonderful place for a special occasion, and very convenient for us, but I would say worth the drive if it were not. My only suggestion for improvement would be the beer selection; they have a bar but nothing on tap, which is a sticking point for my beer snob husband.

First time here. Service was exceptional. Food was delicious. Wine list was adequate. Atmosphere was cozy. There was talented live entertainment on a Friday night. Not overly expensive, but probably not the place to go if you are looking to eat cheap. I've found you get what you pay for and the cost was worth it. We will be repeat customers.

Ok, so this is the best hidden secret around...I guess it not such a secret as any Thurs, Fri or Sat night the bar and restaurant is jam packed. The food is awesome. The waiters and bar staff are friendly and the owners are almost always there and willing to help if needed. This is not your mamas lasagna house...this is fine dining with unique recipes and reasonable ($12 - $25) prices. I highly recommend.

We (my husband and I) go here a lot! Not just because it is near by, but because we always have great service and good food. One of the things we've noticed is that Zaza has had the same staff members for the last few years, which definitely adds to the quality service; they are very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Zaza offers mixed fare, but we usually enjoy the pasta dishes most and consider them the specialty of the house. They also have a REALLY good cookie dough brownie desert....MMmmmmm.

We don't normally go for restaurants based in a little strip mall. But we are so glad we did and we'll be back! Clean, lovely swanky place with great decor, friendly wait staff and delish food. Moving into the area and so glad this place will be so close to us.

Great Italian restaurant tucked into a strip mall on the corner heading towards Wauconda from Lake Barrington. I ordered the stuffed artichoke off the appetizer menu because I am a big fan of this dish. I found the preparation to be quite unique. I was tasting a sweeter version of the stuffing than I was used to. Not to say this was off putting, but I had to adjust a little. I am used to a more pesto flavoring and dip with the stuffing. The stuffing was also very oily, a bit too oily in fact. My only other complaint was that the leaves didn't have much meat on them. I'm not sure this is fair to blame on the preparation and not the artichoke flower itself, but alas that is the reality of it. I enjoyed eating outside and being able to have a true al fresco lunch. Go check it out!

ZaZa's has always been consistently good for us . The servers are some of the best in the area and the food is very good . Great place to take your spouse for a quiet drink and a very good meal . Whitefish and fresh sautéed spinach is one of their regular dishes . Many other traditional Italian dishes to choose from . Live entertainment some nights of the week .

I live within a few minutes walk of Za Zas. It's one of my fave eateries in IL. Great ambience, friendly prompt service. It's not cheap but the quality is definitely there. Sad to find out just now they no longer serve pizza! I loved the pizza with jumbo shrimp, baby spinach and goat cheese!! Please bring back Za Zas!! Seriously though this place is a real treat.

I came with my parents for Father's Day and was greatly disappointed. While the food was above average (scallops for appetizers and soft shell crab special in particular), the service was exceptionally slow, the waiter was rude and awkward, and the busgirl filled my cup of water after each sip. For me, my salmon was overcooked but the sides were pretty good.

Great food, great service at the bar (Keith) and great atmosphere. They are more than willing to make dishes that aren't on the menu as long as they have the ingredients. The portions are huge and drinks are strong.

So glad that I found this restaurant! It was an unexpected surprise being that there is really not much around in that area to choose from. The night we went it was beautiful out so I was glad to be able to sit out on the patio. I loved that they brought out olives with the bread and olive oil, yum! My boyfriend is from an Italian family so he can be picky about what he considers to be good but he couldn't stop raving about the Linguine Frutti di Mare! I tried a little too and I have to say it was pretty phenomenal and the scallops and shrimp were huge. I ordered the Cavatelli con Gamberi and loved it as well. At our servers recommendation we decided to branch away from the traditional tiramisu and try something new (I wish I could remember the name) but it was sweetened cheese baked in a pastry type of thing... so good! We will definitly be back. Tip: they have a Yelp check-in offer and there is occasionally a Groupon out there as well.

Went to Zaza's last night for the first time because of a Groupon. I would give it 4.5 stars if possible, only because it is a little out of my budget normally and the service was a little slow. But otherwise, I thought it was firing on all cylinders. Purchased the bruschetta as appetizer, a zuppa toscana side soup with meal, a ravioli special dish, and my date had their stuffed pork chops and two beers. I would order all of it again, except that there were also other items on the menu that I'd be tempted to try next time. Everything was great and there was plenty of food; we both took home enough leftovers for a second meal. $65. For high quality Italian food, I think the prices were definitely fair, and the portion sizes made me feel less guilty about the splurge. The waitstaff was nice and friendly, and the relatively slow service didn't both me as we weren't in any sort of rush and wanted to enjoy our time out. Definitely would go back with a Groupon; may go back without one.

Food is great. Staff is mediocre. It's a shame that when a customer accidentally leaves an item behind that "no one found anything". I hope your thieving employees enjoy my son's Christmas present.

  • Linda M.

We've been eating here for years. Never a bad meal! And on those RARE occasions when an items is delivered that's not quite what you expected, the management will happily replace it with an item of your liking, no arguments and no questions asked. They just want you to be happy! Always greeted by a smiling hostess, and the servers and bussers are eager to please. Barrington is a community of "fickle" restaurant goers. Many restaurants have come and gone, over the years, but ZaZas is a mainstay, and has earned its good reputation! PS, calamari any of the pasta choices are always excellent go-to items. Menu items change frequently, so there's never any boredom! Darryl, Paula, and Mossimo work hard to make sure customers are always satisfied. Take a look at their website, and you'll find frequent wine tasting events! ( zazaslb.com )

Had ou first meal at Zaza last night and was pleasntly surprised ! upon entering we were greeted with a warm welcome the hostess could not find our reservation but seated us immediately . The atmosphere was warm and welcoming . Immediately upon being seated we were given good crusty bread and a bowl of spcy olives . On the table was a bottle of oil and Parmesan cheese ,nice touch . Our waiter was friendly and his reccomenations were spot on. I had a white fish dish witch I was told was a customer favorite . The ote people at my table were pleased as well . The desserts were reccomended and both were delicious . My only negative comment would be our grilled calamari portion was small . If the waiter ad said something we most likely would have ordered another appetizer as well .. If you are looking for a warm, comfortable spot for dinner I would highly recommend Zaza. We will certain trendy

This is just an average Italian food restaurant. The pizza is not good but some people like smoked wood flavor pie. Some of their pasta dishes are okay except the truffles. I didn't really care for the long wait either to be served.

This place is really cute and has a nice atmosphere. The lights are kind of dim and there are a lot of cozy little booths- kind of a romantic atmosphere. However, I was a little disappointed that there weren't very many options for vegetarians. Usually Italian is our go-to food when we go out to dinner because there's a lot of different meatless options. There was only like one past dish that didn't involve meat (which usually isn't an issue because I just order the dish without the meat) and when I asked the waitress she said "no substitutions"... Technically this was an "elimination" but whatever. So I ended up just ordering angel hair pasta because I don't like eggplant Parmesan and it was the most expensive pasta dish I've ever had in my life... And it was pretty mediocre.. I really really wish this place had more options for people who don't eat meat because the atmosphere/ambiance is so cozy!

I've never had such AMAZING Italian food in my life! This place is the place to go! This is a small little joint in the northern suburbs. It is a little pricey, but you get your money's worth! A couple of friends and I came here for dinner. We shared an appetizer and got a soup or salad along with our entrée. Their menu was not too overwhelming and well organized. When I was reading the description of the entrées, I wanted EVERYTHING cause they all sounded so delicious. My friend has been there many times for dinner, and he has gotten a different dish everytime. This place is very consistent with their meals and it did not disappoint what-so-ever. Their service was very good. Our waiter checked up on us many times and our waters were refilled very quickly. This place also has a very cozy romantic atmosphere. I will definitely go back for more even though it about 40 minutes away from it. It is worth the drive for a special occasion! My favorite things to get here are: - Baked Goat Cheese - Pasta E Fagioli - Minestrone - Steaks - Penne Abbruzzese (Penne pasta w/ ground sausage and pancetta in a spicy tomato sauce) - Risotto con Manzo (Risotto w/ mushrooms, asparagus, and beef tenderloin strips) *** Don't forget to pair your meal with an amazing glass of wine! ***

Good Food - Absolutely HORRIBLE Service - we won't go back. What should have been a really wonderful evening with another couple for Valentine's Day weekend was marred by a surly waitress. We had never been to ZaZa's before and neither had our friends, so we decided to give it a try. The ambience is great, we had a very nice corner table and the food was pretty good. My lobster risotto had lots of lobster chunks in it and my husband enjoyed his lobster ravioli. House salad left a lot to be desired (limp greens, too much dressing) and the caesar salad, while tasty, was very small. VERY slow to get drinks and we waited at least 20 minutes after being seated before our waitress deigned to grace us with her presence. It was only when she realized at the end of the meal that her tip was in danger did she ask us if we wanted water while we sat and chatted(!). ZaZa's could be a really premiere restaurant with better wait staff. The bussers had more personality, charm and work ethic. Very disappointing - when you spend over $200 on a meal, you expect better.

We came here for dinner tonight to celebrate. I really liked the decor, black and white pictures of classic actors and actresses, and soft lighting. It's a pretty place. First off, definitely make a reservation when you come here. We called and made one earlier today, and it's a good thing because the restaurant was consistently packed. Before we ordered they brought out a bread basket and a small bowl of olives. The bread was pretty standard, but the olives were really delicious. Our waitress was really nice and attentive, too. For appetizers we ordered the baked goat cheese and the shrimp wrapped in prosciutto. The shrimp were a little overcooked, but the prosciutto was really nice and crispy. Unfortunately the white wine garlic sauce that it comes in is completely tasteless. You need to squeeze the lemon over it for any flavor at all. If they made more of an effort on the sauce it would be a good appetizer. The baked goat cheese was good, not great, pretty standard to what i've had at other places. Minestrone soup was ok, but on the bland side. It has big chunks of veggies, which was nice, but there wasn't a whole lot of flavor to the broth. It didn't taste bad, it just didn't taste much like anything. The veggies were good, at least. Salad was good, the dressing was light and tasty. i'd get it again. For entrees we had the filet with potatoes and broccoli, and the tuscan t-bone with broccoli and a side of penne pasta in marinara. The t-bone comes covered in rosemary leaves. Rosemary is a strong herb, you don't need a lot of it, but it was seriously covering the entire steak. That's all it tasted like, it completely overpowered it. However, it was ordered medium rare and it was cooked well, they just really need to assess the flavors going on ( you know, like not just using a crapload of one herb). Broccoli was cooked nicely, it was good. The filet was overcooked and under seasoned which bummed out the hubby. Potatoes tasted like they had absolutely nothing on them, not good at all. As a side I ordered the penne with marinara instead of potatoes ( go me!) and it was absolutely delicious. The sauce tastes more like a vodka sauce than marinara, but it was delicious all the same. If we ever go back we're just going to order pasta, we were really surprised at how good it was compared to how the majority of our dinner was. I don't know if we'd go back. It's about 15 minutes away from where we live now, which is nice, but we're moving next month and won't drive out of the way to come back. Who knows though, the olives were really good (and they were cold, I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about) and the pasta was killer. Unfortunately everything else was pretty forgettable. Overall I'd say 2.5 stars. Stay away from the steaks, they are not worth the price tag.

Nice evening At Zaza's with dear friends. No real issues with the restaurant (third visit) but it is not what I would call memorable. Service is good but the bar is slow, food is good, but for the price I have had better, and I felt like the tables were way too close together. It was crowded, loud, and definitely a burn and churn operation but our server was good and the food piping hot ...maybe a little too hot. My risotto with scallops was OK but too hot to eat when served and the rice got very starchy and thick as my dish cooled. Scallops were spot on. I ate every scallop but left 2/3s of the risotto on my plate. The space is better with the new addition and my wife really enjoyed her fish. Our friend seemed very happy with their entrees so maybe i just ordered the wrong thing. We will most likely be back but certainly not in a top 5 list for me......... It was ..as the rating says A-OK......................

Authentic Italian eatery complete with Frank Sinatra. Upon being seated, I was handed a dirty menu that had food crusted on the back of it. Yuck. Then I glanced at the bright light to my left and noticed a huge tv thru the glass partition. The glass partition was filthy with greasy handprints smeared on the glass. Double Yuck. I ordered an appetizer of eggplant which was very salty, I drank 3 glasses of water and am still thirsty. My partner had a pasta with vegetables that he absolutely loved. He also loved the minestone soup. They also served olives and warm bread that were enjoyed. My advice is to this restaurant is to do a clean check before you open for business and easy on the salt.

I was here in the first or second sitting on New Years eve we where seated in the back in the center of the room (kind of like an island of tables ), where there is obviously not enough room as I was continually bumped into as the wait staff and customers would walk by , This alone ruined my experience. So if you are to come here avoid this seating arrangement and request a booth. My Penne Abbruzzese was very good Highly recommend if you are hungry . My wife had some sea food dish it looked good she said it was delicious. someone in my party ordered a seafood dish and requested NO Calamary and the plate came back loaded with it, the waiter was like " oh they must have not taken it out " without an apologize or a I'l have them make a new one et... for the waiter to not take it back was wrong , but prior to that it was mentioned in our table conversation that he wasn't the most cordial or friendly waiter and had a kind of cocky attitude. So I'l give them the benefit of the doubt due to probably the busiest day of the year for them but they do have some kinks to iron out and this is more for them then a food review as the food was very good as usual ,

Zaza's continues to be a fun retreat in the area but on a busy Saturday night their kitchen seems overwhelmed. We ordered the mussels and the scallops as appetizers. The Scallops came on a bed of fennel and were seared perfectly. They were very fresh and served with a cream sauce so you can't go wrong there and were topped with some lightly fried slices of vegetable which were also good. The mussels smelled fishy on arrival, tasted the same and we didn't want to eat them so we sent them back. I'm one of those people who hates sending food back because I feel that if I order something risky then I bear some risk but when a kitchen puts out something they have to know is not good enough, then I draw the line. The waitress was appropriately apologetic and took care of it. For main courses my wife had the night's pasta special which was large tube noodles with truffle-cream sauce which was very tasty but some of the noodles were so under-cooked they were a little crunchy. She likes noodles al-dente but this was just under-cooked. I had the risotto a manzo which was delicious but topped with cubes of steak that came well done. I can accept this as my fault as I didn't ask for them medium rare but they should ask and seriously what kitchen puts out well done meat unless they are asked to. The waitress was very nice, the take out pizzas are good and the place is fun which is why we go but on a busy Saturday night be clear on your orders and watch the kitchen but go because it is good and its a good time.

I went here for dinner and had a nice time. The restaurant is much bigger on the inside than you'd expect, is dimly lit and has some great black and white photos on the walls. It's in the suburbs but for some reason reminded me of a restaurant in Chicago. They have a large beer selection and the menu is extensive as well. Most of our group ordered a pasta dish all of which were enjoyable, but apparently the winner was the whitefish with fire-roasted spinach which seems to be one of their most popular items. Prices are what you'd expect for a nice Italian restaurant ($20ish for entrees) Our server, Rhonda, was very friendly.

Me and my husband went yo dinner here over labor day weekend and we had this experience. While I sat reading over the dinner selections, I overheard people at a table behind me discussing what they were ordering. The waiter was busy clearing other tables and taking dessert orders while we waited to place our order. He then moved to a table of eight behind me and began taking their orders. Many hadn't decided yet and the process was dragging on and on and still the gentleman waiter had us waiting. Since I had already been sitting there about 15 minutes without so much as a glass of water, I left. There were only three other tables occupied in addition to the party of eight, so the restaurant was not busy. Perhaps your management, which I might add did not seem there was a manager around. The person who looked in charged seemed to be on their cellphone and sitting at the bar. It seems your management and service staff straight to the bus people need some training in dealing with proper dining skills. Placing me at a table set for four right in the window was poor. I do not wish to be on exhibition. A smaller table would have been ideal. The greeter left in such a hurry, I had no time to request a move. Also, whatever happened to the drink order? If I had something to drink, the wait wouldn't have seemed so long. In all cases, We always over-tip the servers who serve us since the cost of the appetizers were going to be less than two or more dinners to show my appreciation for the service. In this case, it appeared the server just didn't have time for our dinner. Believe me, on several occasions I have had a server stop to take my order before a large party, explaining how it will reduce my wait. I hope this information will be useful in future treatment of diners.

Looking back on my last review I'm thinking I was jaded by how wonderful Zaza's is. After a lengthy hiatus and a recent revisit, it's clear that Zaza's is top notch. Their service is always on point. They've expanded their menu a good deal and now offer a variety of vegetarian options. My husband always sings his way through his penne abruzzezze. Zaza's is awesome--serving up great food with great service and great entertainment...every time.

My wife and I had been to another location of ZaZa's and it was good. We stopped here on a whim, really it was because we did not feel like driving any further. This was a very nice surprise. We did not have a reservation, but it was early so we had no problem getting a table. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. We opted for a couple of appetizers and a brick oven pizza. The appetizers would have been enough. The mussels were done perfectly and the white wine sauce was delicious sopped up with the crusty warm bread. The portabello mushroom with blue cheese was good as well. Maybe a touch too much cheese, but that is what most consumers want so I understand. The La Siciliana Pizza was very good, again a little too much cheese, but the ingredients were fresh, and the combination of capers, tomatoes, eggplant and arugula were excellent We will definitely go back.

I took my mom for lunch here on her birthday. It was a last minute change of plans because the original place (Onion Pub) was under going repairs. What a great lunch we had. White linens on the table and great service. We had scallops on a bed of fried fennel (yum) for an app, soup and we split the lobster ravioli. Everything was very delicious. Plenty of food! I think that lunch is a great way to sample a new place. I can't wait to go back for more.

Friendly Service, Great Vibe and absolutely, positively the BEST CALAMARI IN CHICAGOLAND!! yes, I said it. In fact, my father refuses to order them anywhere else. And when we do order them in any another restaurant, his comment is always..."well, they're just not as good as the ones at Zaza's!" Sometimes it's the little things that count, and to me - attention to such a classic appetizer shows that they really care about all the food they put out of their kitchen.

Me and my friend eat here its in an excellent area very clean service was gud. I wasn't very pleased with my meal I had like a seafood pasta wasn't a fan of the garlic wine sauce it was tasteless. On the other hand my friend veggie and rice plate was good. The peach martini was excellent but very prices. Overall this place was just ok

This may be my new favorite Italian restaurant west of Rt. 59. We have been here twice and the food is wonderful. Mainly Northern Italian fare that is served with perfection in mind. My first trip introduced a superb Whitefish w/a side of garlic sauteed spinich. This was a top notch dish. On my second visit I had the pork tenderloin, which can easily be over cooked and dry, not this time. This was juicy and done medium with a sauce that was heaven. My wife had the Chicken Vesuvio that came with potaotes. Again a flavorful sauce made this dish a taste sensation. Prices are reasonable with salad or soup a $2 addition. The meal starts out nicely with the olives and bread. The wine list is varied and nicely priced. Our only suggestion was in the service. Our first reservation was on a Saturday and had to wait 30 minutes, which is not acceptable on a regular basis. The second visit encountered a disinterested waitress. These are small complaints but should be noted by the management. The food makes up for the service stumbles.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
